Brilliant spa with authentic Japanese ambiance

2019-11-25 14:50:03

I currently live in the Hengqin area near Chimelong, about an hour and fifteen minutes away from the spa. I can therefore tell you that a taxi to the spa from this area costs around 250 RMB. However, they do have shuttle busses available for 30 RMB from either Gongbei or Jiuzhou port, at selected times. I enquired about the times from Gongbei Kou'an, and the shuttle times were: 11:15, 14:15, 16:15 and 17:15. Sometimes if you buy a package deal, these transfers are included. Do book in advance (also for the way back!) because even though we had a package, the bus was unfortunately fully booked.

A ticket for one day spa entrance costs 168 RMB (it is open 24 hrs a day, ticket is valid until next day 1PM if I understood correctly), children are half price. As I said we booked a package of 1398 RMB with hotel, buffet dinner, breakfast, and spa entrance (great value, definitely stay for the night if you can!).

First of all: even though my communication towards the spa center was entirely in English, they helped me really well and answered all my questions. In the spa not many people speak English, but they will rush to call an employee who does. It was my birthday, and they decorated the room with balloons (very cute). The room itself was fantastic, very beautiful authentic Japanese atmosphere, they have toothbrushes, spa clothing including bath robe (you will see everybody wearing the same beautiful Japanese robes) and slippers, and anything else you'd want. The room was incredibly clean and spacious.

Dinner was so much fun, and so delicious! They have a large area with different stalls resembling a Japanese festival, where you can pick any type of food you want (I recommend the Duck salad, or the Brazilian BBQ), and there was live music. Just walk around and cherish that unique atmosphere that the spa has created. The buffet closes at 10 PM. Breakfast was also very good with lots of options.

The spa itself is wonderful, there are many hot springs outside (ranging from a very hot temperature to a very, very, very hot temperature), and with many different options. They provide different kinds of tea for free, which is a great service. Also, dry and clean towels can be found all over the place, so you never need to worry about a wet towel. I'm not sure how to book a massage, but next time we go there we will definitely enquire. What is different from the hot springs in Japan, is that I didn't see people shower and clean themselves elaborately before they enter the hot spring.

Finally, spa areas are shared by both genders (no separate areas), and you are required to wear bathing suits (which can be provided and are also for sale). There are also souvenir shops, and you can eat fruit and some simple sandwiches for free in the lounge area. I didn't see anybody at the karaoke bar when I was there.

The staff is very friendly and pro-actively helpful (a very positive point!).

All in all, we had a wonderful experience and would recommend the place to anyone!
